In 2024, the UTSA Department of Race, Ethnicity, Gender and Sexuality Studies approached me to produce a portrait series to showcase the community ambassadors in their birth justice anthology.

This book is one of the projects that emerged from a multi-year, multi-million-dollar project, funded by the Democratizing Racial Justice grant from Mellon Foundation.

I was paired with a group of Black mothers who invited me into their homes to spend time with them to document a glimpse into their family lives.

These photos are the results.
